About the job
- Use Unreal Engine 5 to design and build gameplay levels/environments.
- Build a greybox / blockout of the level in Unreal Engine 5, using only built-in primitives.
- Collaborate with designers, artists and programmers; iterate on feedback and playtests.
- Ensure levels support the game’s mood, theme and mechanics (e.g., morally complex orders, oppressive systems in our scene).
Must-haves
- 2+ years of experience in level design for games.
- Strong portfolio with blockouts / greyboxes showing encounter design, flow, and pacing (Unreal preferred).
- Comfortable designing for first-person; VR experience is a plus but not required.
- Solid understanding of:
- Spatial readability and player guidance using geometry and simple markers (e.g., lamp placement, framing, landmarks).
- Pacing: tension build-up, quiet vs high-pressure moments, reset and escalation.
- Navigation, cover, and line-of-sight for stealth-adjacent and chase situations.
- Able to work independently, communicate in English, and deliver a self-contained Unreal level.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with narrative-driven games, moral choice systems, or dynamic environments.
- Experience with C++ or Blueprint in Unreal.
- Familiarity with AI/navmesh and environmental storytelling.
Details
- Remote worldwide (preference for Europe / timezone overlap).
